Who We Are

A Community-Based Landholding Organisation

Molekwa CPA is a community-based landholding organisation situated in the Waterberg area under the Mogalakwena Local Municipality in Limpopo, South Africa.

The organisation was registered on 2007 as a Communal Property Association in terms of Section 8 of the Communal Property Association Act, 1996 (Act No. 28 of 1996). The Association was established following the successful land claim that resulted in land being returned to the Molekwa Community.

Today, the Association continues to work towards the responsible management and development of its land for the benefit of the community and future generations.

A Legacy of Land and Community

The history of the Molekwa Community is deeply connected to the land. The community traces its origins to the Boshiga Mountains in Ga-Molepo, with its history dating back to the late 18th century.

The successful land claim was driven by community leadership and determination. The process was led by the late Malose Andries Molekoa, the first Chairperson of the Association, together with the late Mr Geelbooi Molekwa, who served as Treasurer, and Mr Godfrey Molekwa, who served as Secretary.

Their contribution remains an important part of the Association's history.

The Grey Lourie — Mokwenete

The Grey Lourie is an important symbol of the Molekwa Community. Known locally as Mokwenete, the bird is found across areas surrounding Mathubaditšhilo, the Thababodiba Mountains, the Dikgalaopa Valleys and Skaapvlakate.
